How to Clean Your Green Filter
Pre-Cleaning
Tap the filter to remove excess dirt and debris.
Apply Cleaner
Spray with Green Filter Cleaner and let soak for 15 minutes. Never use strong detergents or high-pressure water.
Rinse
Rinse with warm water from clean side to dirty side. Use gentle water pressure.
Dry
Let air dry naturally. Avoid heat as it may shrink the cotton fibers.
Re-Oil
Apply Green Filter Oil - 1 spray per 2 square inches. Do not over-oil the filter.
Maintenance schedule: clean every 30,000 miles, or sooner in dusty conditions. Check it at every oil change.
Printable guide (PDF)About Green Filter Oil
Green High Performance Air Filters come pretreated with a specially formulated dirt-trapping oil. Our proprietary lightweight, synthetic Green Filter oil is designed to not damage any vehicle sensors.
This oil creates a positive (+) magnetic charge, or ionic bond, with the filter's stainless steel mesh. The positive charge attracts the negatively (-) charged dust particles entering the filter, causing them to cling to the steel mesh and allowing the cotton to remain clear for maximum air flow.
Green Filter oil also contains a swelling additive for the cotton filtration media. This causes the cotton fibers to swell, which allows the filtration media to collect the very small dirt particles (down to 5 microns) that could otherwise harm your engine.

FAQs About Air Filter Cleaner and Oil
How do I clean a reusable air filter?
Remove loose dirt, spray the filter with air filter cleaner, let it soak for about 15 minutes, rinse gently with warm water from the clean side to the dirty side, allow it to air dry naturally, then re-oil before reinstalling.
How often should I clean my Green Filter?
Inspect your Green Filter at every oil change. Under normal conditions, clean it about every 30,000 miles, or sooner if you drive in dusty or dirty environments.
How do I oil an air filter after cleaning?
After the filter is completely dry, apply Green Filter Oil evenly using about one spray per 2 square inches of filter media. Do not over-oil the filter.
Can I use any oil on my Green Filter?
No. Use only genuine Green Filter Oil. Do not use motor oil, transmission fluid, WD-40®, or another brand of filter oil because it may damage the filter.
Do I need an air filter cleaner and oil kit?
Yes, if you have a washable, reusable air filter. A cleaner and oil kit helps remove buildup, restore airflow, and re-oil the filter properly for long-term performance.
